What pisses me off even more than left lane bandits is assholes that are in the right lane following someone and decide at the very last minute, right when you are about to pass them to pull out in front of you. Fuck them!

Stay in the goddamned right lane. That's what it's there for. When you want to pass someone, just f-cking TAKE THE PASS and then move your slow ass back over to the right.

i have driven in the left lane for 4 years on the same highway and passed hundreds of cops. i was under the impression that it was the lane your suposed to be in if your not exiting. anyone ever herd of this?

The idea here is that you didn't know that what you were doing was illegal, but as a direct consequence of that stop; now you know. The fact that it was 7.30 in the morning probably saved you from the ticket because he was trying to teach you a lesson. From what it sounds like, you will be more mindful of the rules next time you drive, meaning it worked.

The guy seems like he was fairly nice and doing society a favor, if he had been a dick and you were indeed going faster than everyone and it was raining he could have given you a ticket for driving faster than the conditions permit.

I been driving for about 5 years now and have not seen a sign that said left lane is for passing or whateve. Only signs I see is slower traffic keep to right.

I generally stay in the left lane all the time, but the second I see someone catching up to me and wanting to pass, I move over to let them by. But when no one is around, I like to be in that lane as it gives you more options to swerve to avoid things in the road or other cars if needed. Being on the far right doesn't give you a whole lot of options when there is a gravel drop off or guard rail.

But yeah, I HATE people who drive slow in the left lane. Then they get all pissed when you pass them in the right lane.
