    custom air box?
i just started working on one today with some chip board.

do you have access to a sheet metal brake and shears for sheet metal and hand shears?

i would be easy to lay out a "box" with a floor, back (where the AFM/MAF come through) , a engine side, and fender side for mounting. leave the top open and use a seal that seals it to the bottom of the hood and leave the front open for in comming air as well as trim the "floor" of it so you get the low pressure air from under the front fender/valance. use WATER BASED under coating/chip guard as an insulation fro heat.

that is pretty much what i am doing, except that i am making mine out of alum. since you can't tig there, you would have to do thin gauge sheet metal, then either overlap the peices and rivet it or mig weld it at the seams on the inside.

my plastic heat sheild is crumbling so i have to do something about it.

if you ahve some time (and want to cheat....) i can im you the deminsions of it when i am done.

I've taken machining, CAD/CAM and welding/fab classes. They are in my major, and I'll be making better sway bars for my senior project.

                    Its a welding/ fabrication class.

                    not a machining class.

I can use tubing, Bars, and like sheetmetal/ other thick sheet metal
