When you push start the car, your body is grounding it and allowing the current to pass to the spark plugs.
Try cranking it over with a friend standing behind the car with his hands on the trunk lid. Sounds wierd, but I swear it will work!
:) Just kidding! Good luck figuring it out, sounds like a very strange issue.
