          plastic bumpers are a direct swap for 88's. Although you may have to drill a few holes for the rear bumper side supports maybe. Someone else will have to chime in on that.

            I know an '89 with metel bumpers

            but they were swapped off of a 'vert, it can be done

              Why the hell would you want plastic bumpers. Metal bumpers are the shit and are more durable.

                  They all had metal diving board bumpers until mid-88.

                  Mid 88 until 1991 non-verts all had plastic bumpers.

                  88 and up was the newer body style, so you will be able to directly swap to plastic bumpers without the hassles you mentioned (cutting + shortening rear bumper), even if it comes with diving boards.

                  Summary: 1988 and up will either have plastic bumpers already, or be fairly easy to convert to plastic bumpers, with no cutting of the bumper.

                      Late model cars also have larger taillights and lower rear fenders. IIRC 98+ doesn't have pop out windows either.
