    Help finding an exhaust system?

Im looking for something louder than stock, but not so loud it sets off car alarms, and wakes people up in the middle of the night. I am also looking for something with more performance than our stock setup. I really have no idea on price as I really dont know much about the different brands, etc.

Im just looking for some recommendations on brands, places to buy (competitive pricing, good deals), and personal reviews from setups you people are currently running.

Right now im just trying to research my options and hopefully narrow it down, to buy something after Christmas.

    Thanks,

    Brandon

Like I write in every exhaust thread, go custom. Find a decent muffler shop, have them fab you up something using one of the universal mufflers from flowmaster, dynomax, magnaflow, etc. It will be cheaper than any aftermarket brand name piece, and you will be able to decide on your own noise level by choosing muffler size and resonators....

You just wrote something along those lines recently, didn't you? I remeber reading a simular thread, but for the life of me couldn't find it. I searched too.

Thanks for your input; I am also looking for people who have picked up systems like Ansa, Supersprint, Remus, etc.

Has anyone tried the new stainless exhaust from Ireland Engineering?

          Stromung cat-back exhaust from understeer.com
$650 after shipping and DTM tips (+$20 option)
Sounds AWESOME, and now I get 30mpg on the highway (@70-75mph)
It's not obnoxiously loud - just really low-pitch at low rpms (doesn't sound like I only have a 2.5L), and it screams at high rpms.
It's stainless steal and it's supposed to be VERY durable. I've only had it for a few months, but RedBaron had his for 200,000mi and it looked almost new still then.

A friend of mine with an '87 325is was trying to get his hands on one last month but there was some kind of hold up in the shipping (I hear they are manufactured in China).....so he wound up cancelling his order. I'm not certain if the shipment has come in since then, but for the price its definately one of the more cost-effective stainless cat-backs I've seen.

P.S. I recently installed a Stromung cat-back (purchased used from Dave Adams). Its a great sounding system (not loud or irritating at all) and very good build quality. Installs using all factory mounting points too.

supersprint is quieter then stock... slightly different tone also. it sounds like your looking for something louder.

My Supersprint on my euro car is modderately loud. Much louder than stock. Nice deep blurble. I am doing a Stebro system though for my US car. I was quoted $550 for a Stebro fitted price in Toronto. I will be hooking it to my long tube headers with some sort of cat arrangement.

I run the B&B, and have had it for about 2 years now, if not longer. Its nice....after long trips (2+ hours) it'll make you deaf under 2500 RPM, but for around town, its no problem at all, and quite nice. I had video clips somewhere, lemme see if I can track them down....

BINGO! Right click, save as and go for it. They are a little softer then the exhuast really is because of a clogged cat and the car being at close to 6000 feet.

i feel cheated... my supersprint is noticably quiet compared with stock.. no more rumbling exhaust on idle.

I have a SS exhaust with a BMP cat. I am not sure on price but I think the setup was around $900. I didn't pay a cent because some idiot rear-ended my car and insurance paid for it. The sound is much nicer with the BMP cat. It reminds me of the sound coming from our E34 M5 (minus the power) I love it and would have nothing else.

I have a Scorpion exhaust that i got from BavAuto. I love it, its got a nice humm to it at idle (a little louder than stock) and it screams at redline. Great build quality, mounts to stock points. I highly recommend it. Its a little bigger than I'd thought, though. A hell of a lot lighter than the stock exhaust!

I'd definately be interested in hearing the clips too... espicially since the IE exhaust setup is priced pretty nicely.
