I got a good one for my damn PO...
Went to back my car out about a month after I bought it turning the wheel to the right when the wheel got stiff and there was a sudden pop under the dash and an instant burning smell and smoke started to fill the car all in like 20 seconds so I killed the engine and ran to the trunk and luckly had a 13 mill to disconnect the battery!!!
Come to find out the cd player power wire was routed from the deck to the steering column and then around and around and around YES and around like 10 times the steering shaft then down to the driver side running board and under the back seat to the battery...
So I'm sure u getthe picture turning the wheel putthe wire in so much stress it snaped and grounded out to the column... Then the wire smoked the carpet all the way to the battery!
I'll go grab a pic of the burnt carpet!

^^Looks like it is ready to do a remarkable E36 impression. Try a hard launch at about 4k.

This thread makes me feel great, haha.
1. The PO before the last PO had the car resprayed, and it is really terrible. Little prep, no primer, peeling everywhere, didn't really mask anything off, I still have 5+ year old overspray on my radiator.
2. The shift knob has nothing to screw onto, it was nice doing a little spirited driving on the way home and shifting into 4th to have it come flying off, lmao.
3. At some point it seems like somebody tried to reuse single use plastic clips, needless to say that didn't work out too well.
4. The PO replaced every belt... Except the timing belt. I have receipts from 2005 saying that it needs to be changed, and I don't think it has been. It's not being driven until I can do quite a bit of work anyways.

Wow I thought I had it bad!
1. Radio wiring was cut. (fixed that today, still a few random wires that I have no clue where they go)
2. Headlights "rewired". Basically the outside lights are the high and lows! When you pull the headlight switch once or twice, the headlights are on, and the highbeam light is always on, on the cluster, but it gets brighter when the highs are on.
3. Both blinks blink very fast but all the bulbs work
4. A random toggle switch that goes from the dash to the PS headlight wiring. Oh and he used phone wire to run it!! LOL - No idea why...
5. The front bumper cover is gone. The metal valance was cut up for some reason... And the bumper core has a dent in it so obviously the car "kissed" a pole or something.
Besides that, just random crap I already knew about... I'm still very happy w/ the deal and can't wait to get everything worked out!
FYI: I actually drove it on the street for the first time today! :D

Mine put it into a snow bank! LOL! And its an IX!
Previous Owner bought blacked out tail lights instead of fixing the two blown front struts.

How deep does that rot go? I have some on my drivers side trunk bottom (where the factory jack sits) that's all the way through. I've treated it so it wont spread, but not being able to put anything smaller than a tire in the trunk blows ass.
