Allow me to clarify as Ben and I thought this up the other night at the shop:

The question is what usually overlooked, EASILY CHANGEABLE suspension wear component will make the most difference in tactile driving feel?

                    tires
or shocks, if you dont consider tires part of the suspension. which would make sense, because tires aren't part of the suspension.

So did you FEEL a big difference? Read OPs first post. Last time I checked the timing belt either breaks or it doesn't . It's not a part you can even feel warring. But I agree it's the most important.

It deppends on what's farther gone. I did everything at once and saved $$$ on future labor. If you buy some sticky tires when you used to have shitty ones then I would think that would make your car stick to the road a little but not feel better.

If it's a 20 year old car, I say tie-rods. You can really feel the difference associated with alignment and lack of steering play.

Tires would be my choice, but question was "on e30". Tires can be replaced on any vehicle to make a big difference.

Ben's car needs a lot of suspension things that will have to be addressed in the spring when it comes out of hibernation but changing two worn tires and properly balancing all our wheels actually made the car feel like it wasn't about to fall apart again. This was the experience that sparked our conversation and in turn, this poll it seems.
