95dB is absurdly loud. We have a 92 dB limit (measured at 50 feet) at autocrosses here, and only the straight piped decatted cars with an afterthought of a muffler/downturn pipe come close. I highly doubt your car is anywhere close to that limit, so go get tested. Remember, a 10dB increase is 100% louder sound volume/intensity.

Just get printed proof that it is fine, and next time you get pulled over just show the cop the test results proving your exhaust is legal. Or move away from Kalifornistan.

He might not actually know he can sign it off. A lot of cops don't know the fines given for tickets they give. But having him sign it off means you gotta pay 120$. I say go get proof your shit is not illegal. But I've gotten fix it tickets over speeding a couple of times, it was debatable but in the end I'd way rather have the fix it ticket.

So just in case this happens again, and you have proof, don't tell the cop you have proof if he wants to give you an exhaust ticket over a speeding/moving violation ticket.

                  NOT A GOOD ROUTE!

That's his word against the officer. By the court of law, police officers are seen at a higher standing of civilians as they are civil servants. It's not a good route to plead not guilty, and then he says - it was loud your honor. Then sit up there and question the officer:

                  > "Can you tell me if the exhaust read over 95 dba?"
                  "No, I cannot."
                  > "So, is it safe to say that it cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the sound was over that limit"
"No, but the exhaust has definitely been modified and it's most definitely louder than an average vehicle"

Then what do you ask? It's his opinion and then you saying he's wrong.

Get data to back it up - you can ask the questions above, and then show your test results.

The real kicker is how to prove that's it's not much louder than stock - as it says not louder than stock. Not sure what to do there.

Unfortunately In Kalifornia cops are allowed to write speeding tickets based on a visual estimate of how fast you're going.
