Tilke sucks ASS. Just my opinion. They should get a recent former F1 driver possibly Coultard or Piquet to do some consulting on the track formation, then let Tilke do the facilities that will go with the track, Tilke configurations are pure SHIT! He has brought one good corner in Turkey to F1 and thats it.
I have conflicting opinions on Tilke. On one hand he makes very boring tracks that--while safe--offer very little opportunity for passing and therefore a boring race. On the other hand, the venues he's been given don't allow him too much to work with. Both China and Bahrain have virtually no natural elevation change. At Hockenheim he was basically told to castrate a ferocious animal that everyone loved. (everyone but Bernie).
Two highlights of Tilke design:
-I love the turn in Turkey that goes on forever. Get it right and you're scraping the plank the whole way around. Get it wrong & you exit the track at a very frightening rate
- The decreasing-radius in China. Get it right & you make one smooth, fast transition from the front straight into a bus stop complex. Get it wrong & you plow through it like you're in a Dodge Omni
Rain is coming?! My team is doing decent, but not relative to everyone else, my gamble on Massa this race as of yet hasn't paid off as of yet, still hoping.
EDIT: Fuck, I am devastated after that racing incident for RBR.....hoping for rain now to at least keep the rest of this race exciting now that the battle for the top 4 is over.
WOW just WOW truely a great race so far. Cant remember the last race so close between the top four for that many laps.
RBR is not doing themselves any favors,,,, they should be dominating the constructors champ this year but they just keep screwing themselves either with reliability or stupidity.
What a job by Petrov so far, driving like a veteran.
ALonso cut his tire,,,,, still a great drive by him to hold Alonso for an entire race and not make an error..
Did anyone here Bernie on the pre race? He was very non commital to Austin. Certainly left the door open to doubt of wether F1 will be in Austin or wether he is just using them as leverage for another city, say NY. I hope it does come to Austing with a dedicated road course,
Lessons: Vettel can't drive, Button is a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles, Schumacher no longer has it and Hamilton's missus is a skank.
Edit: What really really fucks me off, is that Hamilton thanks his crew and says it was all down to them and they say it was thoroughly deserved. Far cry from less than half distance at Monaco when he was tearing them a new one, and I'm not sure how, exactly, a victory is deserved when the top two take themselves out?
Loving Button's chief saying "we pushed them and they cracked." Oh yea, you were really pushing them when they were more focused on racing themselves than defending against McLaren.
Speed should seriously consider you for their next broadcaster opening...:)
Schui is getting it back it seems, if Merc can develop the car further he may contend for a win this year..... I think his spin in quali was a really good thing for him... it shows he is now starting to push the limits of his car, and it may instill some confidence in him that he can go off track and be fine..... He drove very timidly for the first few races giving up positions without really challenging the passing car but I think that will all change now!
