Nuts race. I was actually wanting Hamilton to take the win for a little while in the middle and minimize the points loss for Webber... Can't believe that... I must now go and cleanse my soul!
Still, seeing Vettel's engine pack up was crazy! Chunks of metal spraying out all along the back straight!

ahhhhh why? Im hoping that the next 2 tracks suit the red bulls like they did last year and Webber can pull off wins. Vettel needs to be #2 now and back Mark up, to try and eat as many points from Alonso as possible.
think about it, how much would it blow to NOT have the best car of the year (and clearly the Red Bull is THE car of the year) win the driver championship.

Holy hell! That has to be one of the more dramatic races I've watched as far as weather conditions AND title contention is concerned. Alonso put his stamp of authority with this one.....lots of good driving and a good dose of luck too (rain being the great equalizer in F1). With him winning the last 3 of the 4 races he's got momentum at his back to keep pushing.
With Jensen failing to finish in the points, his chances of defending his title are done. So now it's down to Alonso (231 points), Webber (220 points), Hamilton (210 points) and Vettel (206 points) who are still in contention of taking the drivers' title, however, Vettel will need a miracle at this point. Below I've listed the most relevant top 4 points-paying spots in probable combinations with two races remaining....
1st & 1 st = 50 points
1st & 2nd = 43 points
1st & 3rd = 40 points
2nd & 1st = 43 points
2nd & 2nd = 36 points
2nd & 3rd = 33 points
3rd & 1st = 40 points
3rd & 2nd = 33 points
3rd & 3rd = 30 points
4th & 1st = 37 points
4th & 2nd = 30 points
4th & 3rd = 27 points
The next race in Brazil poses to be another wild card race. Last years' Brazilian GP saw rain so we can't discount that from the equation. The final race in Abu Dhabi will most likely be warm & dry making weather less of a factor. The pressure is all on Webber now. He must win both remaining races to be the champ. Alonso needs just a 1st and a 2nd at this point (assuming Webber does no worse than a 1st & 2nd) to get his third title.

I was so pissed after this race, I am slightly happy that Alonso won instead of Hamilton but still I really wanted Vettel to win, and as someone else said this is the umpteenth time he has been let down by the car or engine. It is little solace to know that with better luck in reliability he would be ahead by a large amount of points.

The scuderia have some tough decisions to make after seeing Vettel's engine blow up. Alonso is using recycled engines just as vettel was. Do they risk blowing up an engine in Brazil, and end Alonso's title run, or do they take the 5 spot penalty and play it safe.... I would imagine interlagos is hard on engines with the elevation changes it has,,,, should be very interesting.

10 spot, not 5. They can use older engines, im sure they will be fine to use the ones from earlier in the season.
Reminds me of 2006 when Schumcher came back in the mid season to take the championship over Alonso only to have his motor let go in japan with a few laps left.
