    Helmets

So I recently purchased a new helmet for autox/track days, admittedly without doing a whole lot of research beforehand. I asked a few questions before making a decision and ended up going with a full face helmet because, well, it was very comfortable and I thought it looked nice. What kind of helmets are you guys using? Open face or full face? Any reason for a preference?

Bought a new HJC CL-16, meets Snell M2010 standards.

I have an open-face Pyrotect helmet (yes, I bought it because it matches my car). I tried autocrossing in a full-face one time, and I hated it. I had to turn my head a shitload more to be able to see anything, and I just really didn't like it. I got this one at the E30 Picnic last year for $40, had been worn twice. Still had the box and the bag.

I prefer full face over open face, I feel safer.

I can still lift the visor and punch you in the face.

I have a CL-15 and using it for drifting and used it for autoX. It works good enough for me.

The cl 15 has nice visability. Had one but it was stolen off my bike. I'm using a shoe full face but i want that half face helicopter looking one but i don't know if its snell approved.

Should've gotten SA rated helmet if you expect to do track days.

I'm getting ready to start looking as well. Some buddies and I are thinking about building a "ChumpCar" and would need an SA rated helmet.

Most likely one that could also be used with a HANS.

for most HPDEs a M helmet is fine. SA if you plan to do W2W club racing, sure, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms
