If I were to go for a wagon, it would most likely be the '05 Legacy GT wagon.

For around $10K? How about an early '90s MBZ 300TE. This is a euro model, but the North American market cars are very similar and have a good track record for durability.

I'm going to add a little more info because most of the stuff you people are giving me is great but not what i'm looking for.

        -4cly (good on gas)
-nothing high end MB, BMW, Audi... the owner will not be doing there own work so one of these cars will nickle and dime them i'm sure.

Are the subaru cars lots worse on gas since they are AWD? Do subaru's tend to last?

        Thanks again.

          Nope. Yep.

Honestly their only logical choice would be an Impreza or if it's too small a Legacy, used.

I would recommend a Volvo 7xx Turbo - they go on forever and can be had dirt cheap

1.8T Passat wagon could be fun with a couple mods, if you're ruling out the obvious choice (e34 touring) A V70 R would be pretty sweet also.

You might be able to find a used 2003 Toyota Matrix for $10,000. My wife loves hers although its a bit short on power, especially with a slushbox. They're worse on the AWD models.

My girlfriend drives a 95 Legacy, great mileage, no problems, decently luxurious for the year. They sell for well under $10K as well...

I'm not really sure why so many people have answered with new cars

Get a camry wagon, they made them from 92-96, you can get the V6 in them.

                    You can't destroy it.

Shit no man. Those things are rock sold. The fucking body will rust off before the engine is dead.

Nice wagon, funky dual rear wiper system. I also like the mid '90's Accord wagon, like this '95

I would go with Subaru. They can take a beating. I have a 96 Subaru Impreza wagon, it takes jumps and goes in snowy fields pretty good. Look for an Outback Sport.

I second that. If the E34 525i Wagon is too old, get a Legacy.

My father has the non-turbo 2.5i one (just like the pic but black with black tint), it's an absolute beast! Awesome handling! Great performance and great for all round duties as it's a wagon!

Get one if you can! They are truly fantastic cars!
