You should be compltely fine. First of all the cop used the salt on your license plate to stop you and have a chat with you. Before he even got out of the car he would have known the status of the registration and who the registered owner of the car was. From what you told us it sounds like the car is registered you just did not have proof of registration with you. If this is true then you just got a ticket for that, which is a correctable violation. I dont know how it works in your state but here in Cali, when you get the oficial notice in the mail you just take that to any law enforcement officer and have him sign that you proved you have corected the violation. So to answer your question, I would be shocked if this efected your driving record and you lost your license..

The plates werent expired. I just didnt have a copy of the reg. The plate was just coverd in salt and he couldnt read it

MA is a pretty scary state to get in trouble in... moved to NH to get away from the madness I got sucked into... about to move to Florida... they treat people with a bad driving record (no DUI's or anything crazy either) like murderers lol... seriously, its like one punishment after another until they find a way to blackhole your ass into the blackhole of the court system... so messed up, add a green $ symbol next to every letter in the words Massachusetts Courst System and you get an idea of what your dealing with.
