    miller maf, or megasquirt?

Ive been doing alot of reading lately, and it seems the Miller Maf kit is a great buy, but it also seems its not much more than the chip that shows the gains.
The cons of this, i still have the motronic ecu. and there is no future flexibility (unless i pay another 300 for a re-writable chip)
Pros, bolt on. no messing with anything else.

But, for near the same price, i feel like i could get a plug and play megasquirt system. This will mean no maf, afm or anything of the sort to restrict any air flow, and it also means i can take it to any tuner and have it tuned, i could also go turbo in the future and still use the megasquirt. this is definately a plus.
But ive read about reliability issues with the MS too.
what kind of money can i expect to spend here?

    What is everyone else's opinion??

Im hoping to fix some idling and drivability issues i have.

Those are both ridiculously stupid ways to fix running issues.

Why not just figure out what's wrong with your car?

cause i feel like ive been through everything already.

im constantly getting the 1221 code and sometimes the 1222, i have fixed EVERYTHING that involves either of those. and they still come on. the 1222 not so much anymore.

          What are those two codes?

If you can't figure out how to get the car idling properly, I seriously doubt you are going to effectively tune MS.

they are codes that haunt many 153 motronic ecus. many people have replaced them with the 173 ecus and had a better running motor.

such as running into brick walls at 4500 rpm, and idling issues.

ive been going through these issues for a while, its nothing too serious and ive gotten most of it fixed. but now what im left with is either an electronic issue (afm, ecu) or a really serious issue internally. but i dont think that is it. since my last compression check came out fine.. (unless its my valves not holding an adjustment for long)

NOW, back to the original question. Megasquirt for expandability and getting rid of afm/ ecu. or the MAF for a decent upgrage without having to do anything but put it in.

Why do you think either of the options will fix your problem?

1221, oxygen sensor. (bad sensor or unplugged/ bad wiring) on my second sensor and the wiring is fine.
1222, lambda control. (o2 mixture out of spec for 10+ seconds / rich or lean mixture) (ive fixed Every piece that has anything to do with vacuum or ECU mixture control. (temp sensors senders, injectors, fpr, etc etc etc)

Idle issues could be unrelated to the two codes...ignition, ICV, etc depending on what exactly the problem is.

I know a bad cap and rotor have been known to make cars feel like they hit a brick wall at certain rpm.

I also assume you've tried to chase down all vacuum leaks?
