Well you are sworn in once you enter the court. Lying in court isn't going to do anyone any good.

All I could think of when I read that was "Mallrats". :D

"Silent Bob got a schematic of the stage from some foolish carpenter, and found a weakness just like the fuckin Death Star."

He's going to get into the courtroom, bust all that shit out, and the judge's eyes are going to fall out of his head, and he is going to let him off on general principle.

Cops lie all the time in court. Not all cops do it in every situation obviously, but if there was a situation where it couldn't be corrorated by either side (like a he-said she-said argument), you can bet he'll pull some crap out of ass.

            Good luck man.

you'll probably win. according to michael moore, oregon has all of 2 police officers. i doubt they can afford to have this one show up to court and not rock his beat...

They don't. It's going to be his word against theirs, and all we can do is hope he comes out on top.

Crappy intersection, but I think their reply will be that you should of connected to Van Buren further down the road in order to make that right turn legally. Laws and road systems are not really there to suit our chosen routes.

Since an immediate right hand turn after the left onto Van Buren is illegal, they need to post that simply before you make that left hand turn.

Just like they post a uturn is illegal at the point where it is. Otherwise, how would you know.

I plan to argue that there is simply no way to properly and legally execute any sort of right hand turn onto 4th after turning left onto VanBuren.

I'm hoping to get the ticket dropped outright (obviously) The base fine is $237 (what I was fined) and the minimum the ticket can be reduced to is $180 (unless dropped)

                      Provide input and feedback.
I think the judge's response will be obvious: "Go around the block, or otherwise find another way.". Unless there is absolutely no other way to get onto that street, which I doubt.

Granted, most people probably just do what you did and get away with it 99.999% of the time, but that doesn't change the fact that if there was an alternate route, you should have taken it.

Meh. The cop told me that I should have taken the left lane then moved over. etc.

The cop just wanted to give out a ticket, thats all there was to it.

If you do want satellite images:

I'd say in court the percentages is going to get you nowhere, but the contradicting laws might.

That's the law here in Illinois, but I never heard of anyone getting pulled over for that.

Probably just a reason to pull over a nice car with a young driver.
I got stopped for it. The ONE time i did it, i got stopped. I always turn into the far left lane, you know, cuz our cars can handle well, lol, just got lazy, and got caught..

They will say you should know that you must signal 100 ft before changing lanes, and ignorance of the law is not an excuse for breaking it.
