If the E30 is really that clean, it could be worth up to $4K, or more. But if it obviously needs a suspension overhaul, use that as a bargaining tool. With a "tired" suspension, plan on putting about $1K worth of parts right away to get it feeling tight again. Definitely don't pay the $5500 he's asking for it.

I vote go for the E30.
My sister has an 850. Your engine chip must do a lot. Because her car doesn't feel the quick at all.

It is good to have a wagon. I have the REVERSE of you. I have an E30 as a daily driver, and I may be picking up a Volvo wagon for my wife. In fact I am trying to figure out a way to get her a Bimmer wagon (e34 or e39) instead since Volvo's are just so, so common here in the Bay Area. If I knew more about what model Bimmer wagons are reliable, that woudl help, but that's a different thread.

I am sorry but I disagree about the E30 not being a daily driver. Our E30 has been driven daily in our family for 18 years (I have an 86). I picked it up with my family in Munich when I was 17 years old. We drove it all over Europe, and it is has lived all over Canada and freezing colde and the in the deep South. I have 222k known miles (the speedo has goes out a lot) and probably 250k or more actual miles--and that's mostly city miles not highway miles. This thing just won't die-- you have to take it behind the barn and shoot it to kill it! Now it has gobbled up a lot of money - I'm not saying it's cheap to run, and I've even made stupid mistakes like trying to put parts in it that are not at least as good as OEM and Ive come to regret that and end up spending more putting the good parts back in. And I haven't done any mods except a new stereo this year and new bilsteins earlier this week. I also have the 325eta engine-I don't know if that makes a difference.

I would suspect you can't go wrong with either the E30 or the Volvo-both cars are built like Sheman tanks.

. . .and those parts won't attach to the car by themselves, especially the rear subframe bushings. I would describe it as needing ~$2k worth of work(parts + labor), even if you do plan to DIY.

Many of those "don't get the E30" responses are probably due to the fact that this seller is clearly smoking too much crack, and also the fact that you already have one E30. Keeping the wagon adds diversity and utility to your motor pool.

I haven't seen comparison stats, but I would think that the low-revving eta would easily rack up more miles than the 'i' motor, which spends significant amounts of time above 5,000 RPM with most drivers.

That thing needs at least 20mm spacers in the rear, if not more.

                          Dude, that's an L7, not a 69

You know, an L7, like this car.

Plus the fact that the BMW 3 series was voted the most homosexual car and the Jeep Wrangler was voted most lesbo. If your gonna be an uncultured douchebag at least know what your talking about.
