I worked on the magazine, and all the Altezza-lighted, air-bagged Lancers I had to judge at the shows were worth it when once or twice a week we were out driving 1000+hp GT-Rs, Supras, 911s, going drifting, drag racing, rallying, building a drift car (and sending it to D1 AllStars in Irwindale), etc. ;) That was pretty much the dream job for anyone into fast modified cars. People like to mock AutoSalon for the horrible shit that turned up at the shows, but the fact is the magazine staff had some sweet (fast) cars and we got paid to do ridiculous shit every day.

And seeing how the car magazine industry is pretty much all based out of Sydney, that provides a knockout win to the harbour city IMO. Who needs a real job when you can come to work in shorts/T-shirt (shoes optional), talk shit about cars, go out on photoshoots in cars you could never afford, go to pub lunches at least once a week, and get paid for it all? :nice:

Sydney really is the shitter of NSW though, I'm sorry you spent a week there James. Anywhere in NSW is much more bearable than Sydney. Did you have a go at trying to travel around on the roads? or negoiating with all the Sydney traffic? You just need to be a right BMW prick and shove in :D

Yeah - C U FROF. it was a baby pink VL Commodore with a hand-painted white two-tone section (where the original VLs were silver - bumper, door cards, etc), ghetto turbocharged, shitty white 19" Tempe rims, all-white (and I mean ALL WHITE) interior and da boyz who were wif it all had matching pink polos (collars popped, naturally) and had the traditional undercut with the numberplate shaved in the back of their head.
