but with that said, i might buy these off of you.
well, its not so much about THIS particular lowballing.. but the accumulation of ALL of them.

i could seriously list a car for 5 bucks, and someone would offer me 4.50

I'll up the offer on the springs to $85 and throw in a pair of non-working tweeter pods

everyone wants a deal and most of the time it doesn't hurt to ask. It generally takes only a few moments to make the offer which is then either declined or accepted. If accepted you just saved yourself decent cash for little to no work.

but yes at 100 dollars shipped, its rather silly.
do you know how many miles are on them? and just double checking but they should fit my 91 325i right? I saw somewhere that they were on a vert but the p# was for a coupe/sedan but wasn't sure if that mattered and if bc its a late model its different.

Well myself I tend to see used autoparts as a barter item whether it's online or at a wrecker I always haggle the price a bit. However if you make an insultingly lowball offer you risk offending the seller and screwing yourself over. Some people are douches in the FS section though and don't get it as evidenced in your thread.

thats the thing... it IS a deal already!

i dunno.. im not one to haggle. it's embarrassing to me. i guess if im at a flea market or a swapmeet or something. but at those places, that kinda stuff is to be expected.
thing is, if i listed them at 120, i'd have a bunch of people offering 100.

              ahhh.. fuggit.

This rant is a waste of internet space.

Having said that, if you're selling something understand that, to some people looking for a deal the #1 rule is, always try an offer lower than the asking price. The worst that can happen is that the seller will not agree to the offer, become emotional and and start a thread about low ballers hurting his feelings.

This is why a seasoned seller often starts out with an asking price that's slightly higher than that he is willing to accept.

You'd be surprised at how many people don't even ask. I sell a ton of stuff on CL thinking 'okay, if they offer me a little less, I can still accept - they'll be happy and I'll be okay.' But then I guess they don't think to ask. Getting your full asking price is always nice.

                    .

last i checked, the internet was fairly vast, and a couple of pages about some dipshit without 2 nickels to rub together isnt gonna slow down the whole works. lighten up.

Well it seemed like he was quite polite in "lowballing" you, and in return you were a total dick to him.

How hard would it have been to just say "No, I am firm on my 100 dollar price" ?

                      I mean, really?

i thought the act of lowballing a guy who was already being MORE THAN FAIR was lame as fuck, and SHOULD be reacted to with harshness. its bullshit that anyone would have to put up with that kinda garbage.

                        its insulting and downright rude.

a price is a price, unless it clearly states "OR BEST OFFER".

I am always looking for the best deal.

Occasionally I will email someone and ask if they are firm on their price...but I never make an offer, as my offer just might be taken as an insult...but that is because I have a zillion fucking years as a "seasoned bargainer" and know my shit.

Thats true too. I might ask if they're willing to go lower or will say "I know this is a lowball but if you're ever willing to let it go for X amount I'll buy it" I said that to a guy selling a SHO and 2 months later he emailed me back saying he'd sell it to me. It was 25% lower than what he wanted which is a good amount.

next time put FIRM in the ad???

i do feel your frustration though.
i had a guy pm me about my MAF conversion with a bunch of questions, went back and forth answering them, politly.
THEN after all that, he asked if i would sell the 19lb injectors seperately (package deal with the MAF conversion) for something like $40. i told him no and he got pissy. so i told to just go to a wreckers and grab a set, they are not much $ and can be found on any fox body 5.0 mustang and they are not hard to pull.
i was thinking SERIOUSLY??? they are everywhere. if you don't have the skill or ability to pull them yourself, you probably should not be working on your car.

i am a seasoned buyer, i have a price point i am willing to pay and i will give it a shot to get you there, but i also know that if you are asking close enough to what i am willing to pay in your initial price, i should just pay. only if there is shipping on top of that i might try for a shipped price out of what the sellers price is.

when i sold my old ENKI rims i was ready to kill people over what people we making offers for. i already had them at a good price too.

people have NO IDEA how to bargan for stuff anymore
