^^My current eta is chipped and the mpg doesn't seem as good as my old stock motor'd eta with 87 octane, despite the taller gear.

Standard eta was made '84-'87 with a -200 casting head and the smaller port intake (same as an m20b23 and an m20b20).

Super-eta was 1988 only and used the -885 casting head with the larger intake from the m20b25 as well as different pistons and a few other differences.

You have an intake? When did this happen?

my old 85 eta stock, with around 275+++k got around 29mpg. but i also ran the shit out of it, and it eventually developed a loud knock, then i lost a cylinder (killed the rings), then i lost a rocker arm, but it never died. i never fixed anything on that car, trim would be falling off, and my friends would try to put it back on and i would tell them "dont you fix my eta". i sold it still running after 9 months of nothing but abuse. cold redline startups, redlined every 1-2-3, many burnouts, jumped rail road tracks a few times aswell. you cannot kill an eta.

Just recently dropped below 30mpg. I think I need plugs, o2 sensor, and it's been time to clean my fuel injectors. With clean injectors, NGK spark plugs and factory wires, MPG should spike back up to mid 30s.

Driving to Wisconsion I get 35+ going 65-70mph. Driving on Chicago skyway I got 14mpg, but it was totally worth it.

Since I was looking to get a econocar, this might be my next purchase haha. I guess etas are pretty cheap even for decent condition ones?

I average like 25mpg probably with an I-head, and M30 injectors+intake on my supereta and a 3.73 diff through the Appalachian mountains. I started using fuelly to track it but I don't have enough data yet to say much for sure.
