Reason not to Buy and Mcoupe - there is only one

The idiot bmw trim engineers really dropped the ball on this car. My RSM's are shot so I figured I'd replace them. I figured I've done e30 ones before and it was simple so why not do the coupe. The rear suspension is the same.

So I get online to pull some directions about removing trim only to find out you have to remove 25 pieces of trim.

So after 1.5 hours of trim removal I finally explosed the RSM's. Luckily rogue engineering designed RSM's that mount from the bottom so I never have to do this again.

lol not it's not bad, but I was very annoyed while doing this yesterday. I haven't done the actual RSM's yet but once they exposed it's simple as you know.

+1. But seriously, E34 Tourings are very similar in regards to the amount of trim that needs to come out when doing the RSM. There are probably a few less pieces and not as crowded workspace though.

I guess there isn't an easy way to trim out a hatch/touring setup

wow, good luck putting everything back in the right way!

but i'd have to agree that that is the only downside to owning an M coupe.

The Z4M Coupe is not any better.....and I went with Rogue RSMs when I changed out my suspension for the same reason- only have to do it once.

things would really stink if your wrench slipped and it went through that subwoofer.

Yup. One 'flaw' is how they are sort of put together. Get the rogue or similar design for future work :)

I've got the rogue for sure.

DEVO E30 - it looks hard but it was actually really easy to do. At no point was I stressed that I might break something. There are only about 4 of those snap in type fasteners that cause breaking.

Ever take apart an e46 touring for rear shock mounts? Yep. Same thing.

I bet when you're finished the RSM replacement, you'll be all pissy...then you'll step back, look at the coupe and say "aaaaawwww I can't stay mad at you".

Yay, one maintenance related reason I'm glad to own an e30 iC. RSM's are under the boot lid, and not covered by nothing :D
