yes you just have to know what the resistance/temperature curve looks like for the stock sensor
people use the stock E30 coolant sensor all the time. it's actually not that much different from the GM sensor.Comment

Until I get my intake done, I'm actually using the sensor built into the AFM. Eventually it will have the GM open-element in it, though.Comment

Danny, you can literally CLIP and pocket and GM sensor from any car that has one.
