You are completely retarded. I've been using an optima redtop for 6 years in 4 different cars and it is still as strong as the day I bought it. My coworker can't figure out why his crappy walmart batteries die 1 month after the warranty expires. They are crap, and that's why they only have a 1 year warranty.

Buy a nice battery and it will last a long time.

Buy a shitty battery and it will die.

You should get a bicycle if you think $80 is an insane price for a battery.

Ya, maybe your red top isn't from mehico, but the new one I buy will be. I'll pass.

I've been buying that crap Walmart/Kmart batteries for the last 10 years. I'm sick of going through them every 1 and 1/2 to 2 years. I tried some off brand optima-look alike and that was a waste. I turned that in on warranty and got my redtop.

See here now Parry Hotter, some things - oh like tennis shoes, refrigerators, and shit like that, it makes damn good sense to buy a more expensive version. They just last longer - so actually, one could argue that it's you who is being foolish.

But I don't expect you to understand that.

            OP, don't be a dick

if you don't have the money for an Optima, that's understandable, but don't bash people who do. They are very expensive, but they are very high quality and long-lived. So really not a waste.

shop around and you can get a new, regular battey with at least a 2 year warrenty for around $80. Yes, that is what they cost.

              Wow so witty.

So I should buy a mexican made red top battery? No thanks.

They're made in fucking mexico!!! Last time I checked shit from mexico lacked quality. Points at friends mark 4 jetta.

After reading recent reviews of red tops, they seem to have dropped quite a bit in quality. I spent 200 dollars on control arm bushings but I just can't justify dropping 200 dollars on a damn battery.

Look back - no one asked you to spend $200. $100 is a reasonable amount to pay. Hell, there is probably $50 of lead in the thing.

Stop being a weasel and pony up the cash. No one here cares that you are broke at the moment. Suck it up like man and deal.

I just don't understand why batteries shot up in price so fast, I swear they were only like 30-40 bucks like 2-3 years ago.

You know what I'm gunna be real fucking cheap, buy used for 30 bucks, get my 12 dollar core charge and end up spending 18 bucks on a battery. I wouldn't mind buying a used red top actually, one that was made in america. Not this mexican crap. Wanna sell your old red top? Is it even legal to ship that kinda stuff?

Here's an idea for you harry. This has to be the cheapest method - too bad it's hard to find anymore but - buy a hydrometer and some acid, and fix the battery you have.

Ya I was kind of reading up on this seems sketchy though. Might give it a shot in my spare time, which unfortunately I use to have plenty of, but not so much anymore. The battery is still working but it's on its last leg. And blunt if you could point me towards a 39 cent battery that would be fantastic.
