Well almost back in the e30 club again (auto vs 5speed)

K, well I think im about to get an e30 again, and i found this INCREDIBLE 325is, white, low milage, perfect, AUTOMATIC 325is that my friends neighbor is selling. Ive seen it before and its almost identical to my last one except its an iS and has euro head lights... My girlfriends dad has one more IHRA championships than anyone else in the world, so i HOPE finding someone to help me install a 5 speed wont be much of a problem... Im wondering, after all of this waiting (e30s dont come around in good condition very often around here) should i get an auto or wait it out for a 5 speed. My old e30 was great but i always missed having that 5speed, but then again, i dont think i can pass up this car...

PS: i might or might not be racing it, leaning closer to the might not

Having done the auto swap, it would take one fucking awesome automatic to make me buy one again, even if I planned to do the tranny swap anyways. It costs a lot of money, and isn't all that fun.

You could always do what I did, own 2 e30's.

I would hate only owning an automatic e30.

But like you said, its not worth passing up. e30's that are stick are hard to come by in excellent condition.

That's how everything starts. I thought the suspension job was going to be "fun." Haha.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

Are you from an area where mint E30s fall from trees? Like SoCal?

If not I would consider it. Yeah tranny swaps suck but rust sucks more. Finding a mint car in Kansas isnt a dime a dozen now that they are getting in the high teens/old enough to drink age.
                Im now E30less.

it's not.. I have far more important things to worry about for now. my car gets me from point a to b reliably, and that's all I need. In the future? who knows..

the ix tranny swap isn't really any more complicated either.. in fact it's simpler in some ways, I don't have to worry about tranny mounts or driveshafts, and everything else is the same as with a normal E30 swap.

honestly if the car is clean I'd buy it. who fucking cares what other people think, if your car is an auto or not. I'd rather have a very clean 100% stock auto than a beat to shit 5 speed.

no offence taken, I was merely stating the facts. I almost had a deal on a transmission from kansas-ix, but he ended up keeping it. right now I need lots of capital for investment, so spending money on my car isn't a priority.

Yeah, see, its not like i'd be racing it really.. I mean, im not gonna make it all show or anything, but im not gonna drag it either ya know? A chip, exhaust, intake, same as my last e30, a few more exterior mods and i hope thats it ;) I think I'm gonna have to get it, its too nice to pass up.

You don't have to race to have a manual!

Another subject: My friends dad is selling his pristine 1992 735iL for 4,000... I think i shall get that and then sell it!
