you're out of turn indicator fluid. e30s have them on the same circuit.sigpic

I'll bite.
1. Buy Multimeter. You probably don't know what that is, so click here:http://tinyurl.com/ofyvzn
2. Check continuity between contacts on the steering wheel with the button pressed/ unpressed. This will test the switches. "It worked before" doesn't mean it works now. The Challenger Space Shuttle worked before, too.
3. If there is no continuity with the button pressed, viola, you need a new switch. If there is, put the wheel back on.
4. Check for continuity further and further away from the wheel in the circuit. You might have to refer to a wiring diagram (it's like a treasure map, only with colored lines) to find the right wires for the horn circuit.
5. When you no longer have continuity when the button is pressed, you've found the break in the circuit. Fix it.
6. Normally I wouldn't write this, but you seem like you'd do it. Don't fix the break with any of the following:
bubblegum
epoxy
bondo
cardboard
your brother's cousin's sister's mom's secret patching stuff
spit
paperclips
bubblegum (again)
duct tape
JDM parts.
There you go. Easy horn repair.
