    Shipping Large Items (Hood)

    The problem,

My father has a 2006 M3 that got wrecked and the other driver had no insurance and now my father is left fighting Mutual of Enumclaw, his insurance company, to pay for the damages. Anyway I do not want to get into that. We found a hood in Baltimore and we live in Seattle, the hood is the same color as his car. Are there affordable places to ship large items? UPS wants $1198.00 for ground Fed Ex wants $1,300 app. for ground and the USPS says they do not ship items this large. Its 6’x6’x1’ and weighs about 10 lbs.

those quotes are bullshit, fedex should not be that much

fedex usually has th ebest prices when shipping awkwardly shaped/sized items

edit: you sure those are yoru packaging dimensions as well?

I wonder how dealers and tire rack ships large items. 6' x 6' x 1' is the best demsions I came up with.

                    check greyhound.

it cost me $75 to ship a rx8 bumper to houston from dc. its technically a "bumper cover" and its quite large. for an approximate size look at my sig. the bumper cover is the entire front. i'd really check greyhound man.

yea. i assumed it was unpacked though. Since 10lbs packed is about a -2lb hood. OP you sure that hood packed isnt more like 30-40lbs?
