    Shipping a Motor from Europe

What is the most econimical way of doing it. Kinda looking for a hook up aslo. Looks like UPS, DHL, or FedEx Sea Freight. Motor is comming from Lithuania to Indiana / Kentucky. There is a port in klaipeda, Lithuania to ship from.

    Thanks,
    zach

Check directly with air frt shipping services. Weights between 200lbs and 500lbs can sometimes fall into a gray area where air freight is cheaper than ocean freight because of the difference in minimum charges.

Pilot Air would be a good place to ask. Chances are they can arrange a door to door pickup and delivery if needed. I do this for a living. If you need more help shoot me a PM.

S50B32 is the only one I can think of. If that's the case then the OP will have other issues with customs since it wasn't available for the USDM. There's a fairly extensive thread on importing engines somewhere, I think in the FS section. There isn't talk about cost though, just procedures, but it still might be helpful.

Check around your area for an international freight broker. This is what they do for a living. In a city the size of Louisville there's got to be at least 3 trying to beat each other up. They should give you a very competitive rate for freight door-to-door. Customs & duties will fall into your lap, too.

Explain that you simply wish to import an engine to the states to use in your father's gen-set for his cabin. A BMW engine is the only one powerful enough to get the job done. ;)

You need the services of a "Freight Forwarder"

If you want to try to do it yourself, you'll be in for a MAJOR PITA and a bunch of stuff that can cost you $$ if you do it wrong. Freight Forwarders basically act as your agent when shipping something, and make $$ doing so. They typically have discounted shipping rates with airlines, ocean shipping companies, etc and they can make money on your shipment without costing $$$ compared to you trying it yourself.

Thanks everybody for their ideas, I go over them and see which best works for my scenario.

PS its for my e34 touring.

                      As of now...

                      GS5-39DZ or GS6-29DZ
E34 2,64 rear end or a E39 2,35 Rear End if the gears with fit inside a e34 case
                      Probably make custom drive shaft.
