Definitely a great DD! Automatic or no, it's a great car for the long hauls or when you just need to be laid back.

Eta e28 is a turd. Even a 535i has lackluster performance. Too heavy to be sporty, too small to be luxurious. Can be a good freeway cruiser in a pinch.

I am pretty sure most eta e28s are "super eta" with the 885 casting head and a 173 ecu pops right in.

yikes, got some conflicting opinions here! i'm gonna spend the next month or so getting the e30 to where i'm happy with it as a dd/ canyon carver, & then re-evaluate and make a decision. it would be nice to have an auto for the chill cruising around town, to and from work, the beach kinda stuff for sure. i'm just a sucker for old euro cars, there should be a support group. oh wait, i'm there already, it's r3v.

IMO, if you going to buy an e28, get a 535,
why keep the m20 when you can step up to an m30...

E28's are lot more tossable than an e24,
I have had both M5 and M635i, and the e24 just felt heavy...
the e28 with some upgrades or better yet an M5 is one of the ultimate driving cars, very tossable and great car...

I would buy and flip for e30 money. Actually I may keep it for dd. either way go for it.

well, for one, tail of the dragon isn't too far away, it's probably one of the best known segments of road in the u.s. for driving enthusiasts. and i'm using the term canyon carver loosely.

you won't LITERALLY be carving canyons with the car. the front of the car isn't sharp enough.

update: price just dropped on this car again, my buddy is hurting for cash, at this point i'd do it just for the charity and to help the guy out. he said i can have it for $500, with a 2nd motor and tranny, delivered. jesus that's hard to pass up.
