What kind of car do they want? If your budget is around 5k that should provide a wealth of choices in late model foreign compact and mid-size vehicles.
Sad but true. I'm 21 and I agree, but if you insist please, please, please prove me wrong.

get an e. start with a slow car that isnt worth a lot, throw some good suspension parts on, and call it good. its also a good starting point to learn from

            1. You dont want a vert
            2. You dont want a automatic
            3. You really dont want a BMW at 17 unless your parents or you can afford an average of 300-500 a month in maintainance, tires, etc.

If you cant drive a stick your better of with a cheap Honda or something. Im sure none of the youngers guys here will agree, of course, but unless you can DIY or are willing to learn, or your parents are loaded, that car will be sitting in the driveway more than your driving it.

Of course I could be wrong and it would never need any work, or never leave you walking.

            But I dont think so.

Am i the only one who thinks the price is fair? Or is it just because this is r3v, everyone is lowballing cause it's a stock e30 with an automatic????

Sorry, but an e30 would be a poor choice for a first car. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but an accord/ civic comes to mind...

hey man. im 17 too, but i do as much DIY work on my car as my home garage will allow me.
basically anything not needing a lift can be done with your own to hands and a good tool set.

biggest thing on these cars is the upkeep of maintenance. dont skip or use poor quality stuff, it will break.

price is fair. most people on r3v have never own a vert. There are tons of variables here, most dotn own a vert. most have beat up interior that have rips every where, so they dont consider the value of a clean interior, most have rust buckets and faded paint, so they dotn value new paint.

The stuff that are valued here on rev mostly are hardcore slam suspensions, which this car doesnt have, and engine swap which this guy doesnt have. which in turn they would believe that the car is worth nothing.

though I have to say the price is fair for hte low mileage, a tad bit on teh high side, but with it that clean, I still say he should fetch around 4000 easy if 5k is too much.

Why would you buy an autotragic cabrio for $5k ?

it looks clean, but the auto is what kills it. cabrios are just fine, everybody wants one even if they dont know it yet!

Don't knock all the 20-and-under crowd. Some of us know our shit about cars. Nevertheless I can't speak for the majority..

Like everyone else says, go manual. I actually find I drive slower in manual cars, as it is one more connection you have to the car, the driving process, and the road.

Plus, driving standard is a lifelong skill that's worth learning. Chicks dig it.

Get an e (pre 1988 ), and a sedan at that. They're not too quick but can keep up with traffic, and insurance will be cheaper. And since its a manual, the chicks will be diggin' it, and you can fit more in the back with the extra doors!
