Toyota Sienna has around 270 hp these days out of a 3.5 v6 and the smoothest autobox in the segment. Honda has around the same power, also with a 3.5. The odyssey trumps the Sienna in handling, double wishbone front and rear to strut/torsion beam.
My family has a 2006 (240hp 3.3L), which scoots like crazy. Two years ago we went to daytona beach and back doing 90+ mph the entire way in complete comfort. Car hides it's size and weight very well.Comment

By a hundredfold. Real crumple zones, multi-stage airbags (including side curtain), door bars, etc. Also, amazing brakes. Anyone that has driven an american P.O.S. van (caravan or equilavent) should know that the japanese only share the same segment, but are in a completely different class.Comment

Are minivans still classified as a truck or something for crash ratings? I thought the car companies convinced congress that since it was as small segment of the market it doesn't go through the same testing as a sedan? Hopefully someday they'll change that!
Oh and BTW, you can talk about how awesome it is till you're blue in the face. It's still a minivan.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

No, they're confident in their manliness and don't let their choice in vehicles affect how they feel about themselves. :D Our Limited is the van Lexus would sell if they badged one.
We have an '05 Sienna which only has ~230hp, but the new ones with 265 will do 0-60 in well under 8 seconds and the quarter in 16 flat or better.
Minivans are 100x safer than an E30. Is that even a serious question? Our van is a rolling bank vault...that's why I bought it.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

No. I'm right. You're wrong.
When men wear the color pink, it's often refereed to as salmon. It's pink alright, but it will be called salmon. You should have paid more attention in the 80's.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

Congrats! My (almost) 3 year old has been turning wrenches and helping wash the cars for the better part of this year.
My vote is a touring with a rack and trailer if necessary. Ha ha - actually we have a CRV we love, but with more kids I know wifey will want something else so we're diggin' the Sienna/Odyssey whatever swagga wagga you like.SOLD '90 325is SOLDComment
