325i 885 head modification to increase compression

You guys are harsh. It's been done before by a few shops just not really on BMW's. Along similar lines...Metric Mechanic made a name for themselves back in the day by grinding grooves/reshaping combustion chambers on BMW heads. They called it "Surface Turbulence". They claimed it helped reduce laminar flow and re-homogenizes the fuel mixture for a better burn. Another well known machinist I know (an Edelbrock guy), welds more 'meat' onto certain parts of a head just so he can make the intake ports larger when he ported it. He would not be able to go as large with the stock design.

what is funny though, in the pic of the MM head, it looks like they have made no attempt to unshroud the valves or blend the chamber to the seat. that is basic chamber modification you would do. insted there is a bunch of funky groves in the chamber from an end mill (maybe).

You do realize that that was a picture of a head that had material REMOVED AND TEXTURED, not added haphazardly, right? And cheap? You must have no idea who or what Metric Mechanic is...
