Came across this e30 M3 on the ebay and....

the vin number is the same as the infamous Keith Scott's car. Aka beemrmax from roadfly fame. Pretty sure most remember that story? It was way back before r3vltd existed. Long story short the car was a stolen 91 with an 89 cowl bondo-ed in place. I wrote down the vin in case myself or anyone I knew came accross it and lo and behold I catch this on ebay today:

Would have thought the police destroyed it after impounding it from Keith. Guess it went on public auction.

Yeah, I believe its the same car, they guy who is selling it now owns a body shop and apparently got everything straight bodywise then had the swap finished up by Azevedo. Looks like a real nice car. Hey you can't judge these cars based on their history, just like people, they can change too! lol

Yup it's the same car. New owner (SonnyQ) claims it's not anywhere near as bad as everyone suggests but I don't see how 2 cars into 1 with the cowl being BONDO'd in place can be anything but bad. Did they bondo the two halves together too? To top it off, the 91 was stolen and the engine didn't match either car (not that it matters anymore since it's swapped). Now it looks all pretty with a euro S50b32 swap. Perhaps all of the issues were addressed ... perhaps not. Car's history should still be disclosed.

What I don't understand is how come the car has a clean IL title? That in itself must have involved some type of illegality. Anyone ran a carfax on it recently? If I remember correctly the '89 still was a salvage title and was totaled twice.

I've seen this car being built at Azevedos and Sonny is a straight up guy, no questions about the history of the car but the price reflects it I think

What do you mean no questions about the history of the car? I don't get it.

I think Vlad meant he is not questioning the shady history of the car when he is saying sonny is a good guy.

However anyone that tries to hide or not disclaim the awful history of that car is a crook in my book. I don't care if he paid azevedo straight up, or if he's had good dealings with other people. Just knowing the history of that car, even if it has a clean title now, and passing it as if it never had an issue -grand theft nonetheless- is extremely unethical.
