Wrong. The first E30 M3's sold in the US were 3/87 production but are 1988 models. All E30 318iS models sold in the US were 1991 models and that's a fact. Production on them obviously started around 7/90 at least.

Your car was built in Germany in July. How long do you think it would take to travel by ship, sit at the docks, be transported by truck to the dealer, then get prepped, sit on the lot and then finally be sold? Carfax would tell you when it was first sold, but I guarantee you it wasn't in July.

Your car is nothing special. I have the same exact interior in my 318is...well had, i switched it out for black leather, its much nicer now. I did think it was slightly blue as well but its just gray. And unless your car is in absolute mint condition or its going to be a restoration and you are a collector who cares how rare it is, its a 318IS not an M3. I also do not believe the interior has numbers to match the chassis, i could be wrong though.

The 318is global production number is 318is 1989-1991 41,234. this makes it the 3rd least produced car.

the second is the 325ix 1985-1991 29,589 and the obvious first is the M3 with only some 17000 made.

Europe had the 318is
1989-1991 318is - 1.8 L M42B18 I4, 142 PS (104 kW; 140 hp)

But the US
1991 318iS - 1.8 L M42B18 I4, 142 hp (100 kW) - North America

Just because the car was built in the late 90's does not mean its a 90. All manufacturers start to build their cars the year prior to what they label it.
