You can only disable DSC fully on M-cars now. On the E60 M5, regardless of trans, you can turn it off. Non M-car, even if you hold down the DSC button for 10 seconds for the second stage, you will still have some sort of traction control on.

E60 M5 owns all, anybody who says different has yet to drive one.

Let me introduce you to the winner, the BMW 3-series Compact:
I still think the E60 5-series headlights are worse. They look like a pair of Elton John's glasses.

The e30 was designed in the 70's it is not really a 90's car at all.

While I don't really care for the lights on the compacts I love that the euros have the option of buying them along with 100 other body styles and engines that we don't have on this side of the pond like the 120d 5 door.

Not true, and not true. You can definitely turn DSC off fully on the new cars, I've done my share of stupidity in 135s and 335s.

As for DSC on the M5, yes, absolutely it was locked out (at least initially) on the 6-speed cars. Car & Driver wrote an article on it: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/.../bmw_m5_page_2

I was just hoping BMW came to their senses somewhere down the production stage.

E60 M5 is a terrible-looking car that I would still love to own because once I get behind the wheel what it looks like is deemed irrelevant. I'm positive it would be a rewarding car to drive

Looks a hell of a lot better than the E60. I would buy one if they offered it in the US.

You can absolutely not turn off DSC 100% on a new non-M car. I was told this by two BMW STEP instructors, my BMW RTE, and further reiterated by numerous other techs at my dealer. You can (after you hold down the DSC button for like 10 seconds) turn DSC ALMOST off, but it still has like 20% control or something. For the E60 M5 DSC, I personally tested that on a 6-speed vehicle while the customer was driving, as he was concerned about that exact issue. Although that exact vehicle was a 2007, if I remember correctly, so I was probably wrong about it being locked out....initially.

You can shut it off on non-M cars and have a bunch of fun....but I bet my entire net worth it is not 100% off.
