PayPal 21 day hold on funds?

A couple of my local friends have had 21 day holds placed on their accounts recently for parts they sell on here and on eBay. How many other members have had this happen to them? PayPal is telling them they have to ship the parts and wait to get paid. Is this becoming the standard way they treat small sellers?

Ive received 5 payments from paypal the last 10 days. I was robbed, but there was no holds. Between ebay fees and PP, I dont know how these online stores make any money.

Old news, this is their new system. Money orders and bank/wire transfers will be the way to sell parts online nowadays.

Hmm I havent noticed this yet with my Euwerks shirt sales. And trust me... i am def small potatos. I do have a Merchant account with them though... wonder if that changes things.

I did some research and it is in fact something they started doing some time ago. I just think it's odd that two of my friends got hit within the same week, BTW - both times the holds were for eBay sales and with at least one of them they are receving forum payments. Both of these guys ship on time and have happy customers. PayPal told them it was random, but that's bull shit. I sold an M20 cylinder head a few days ago on eBay and I didn't get hit with the hold, but I have a feeling we are all going to maybe see this happen in the future.

I am one of the guys bruce is talking about, i know im not really known here but selling parts is my income since i am currently unemployed and this isnt so much of it being a roadblock but overall annoying....Im living "part to part" at the moment and had to borrow some cash just to send it out....lame. I am a little offended because i try to do my best if something goes wrong and feel punished with other shady ebay sellers who ruined it for all the "good guys".
I guess its really my only option since nobody wants to do the honor system of sending money orders...i dont blame people though.

lol oh give me a fucking break. God forbid a company turn a profit. EVIL EVIL! Are you pissed off at Visa too? Do you want them to transact your business stuff for free just because they are nice?

Ive never had a problem with paypal, and I've had an account for forever. Pay attention to what you are doing. Be honest, and you wont have an issue. I have a merchant account, maybe its different.
