I'm thinking that the E46 is going to be faster than a 2,895 lb. M20B25 car. That's a heavy E30 for having a sheet metal roof..

      Anyway...
Do you guys know why the 89 is so much heavier than the 87-88 and 90-91?

Both of you start from a slow rolling 1st gear & launch on your 3 beeps or wtvr.
You will pull ahead by a hood or more and stay that way for a couple seconds, then he will pull away from you by ~60 mph.
You will see his taillights around ~70ish.

This is what a light flywheel, 4.10lsd, chip, and on-point shifts from both drivers.
        Ask me how I know.

Have fun and don't be stupid though.

Why did you post this? Get out there and race him and see who wins. The car does not mean shit if the driver sucks. So do a couple mods and beat his ass. Trq wins off the line but he has more bhp too.

P.S. Be safe and have fun, also burnouts are fun but =losing so learn to hook up.

                  87-88 : 2850; 89: 2895; 90-91: 2811

Read the thread. If it's just the bumpers then why is the 90-91 lighter than me too, by 84 lbs! I just want to know why the 89 is so special.

sorry but he is correct the entire diving board assembly is indeed LIGHTER than the entire plastic bumper assembly. Ive shipped these items many many times.

                      I believe you.
Still doesn't explain why 90-91 is lighter...

Yes, and the diving board assembly is equivalent to a dead steer on my car compared to my euro bumpers.

Those numbers aren't accurate-- at all. Check some other sources for the info. Nothing 'special' about '89 as far as lead sound deadening is concerned.
