Scared the crap out of myself in the E30 today

So I win the bonehead award for the week... :oops:

I was driving with my wife to go get some food in my E30, which has driveshaft issues, and I'm replacing it in a few weeks. So we're going from here to there, and I start to notice that everytime I shift into 2nd, I hear this semi-loud metallic CLANK. So naturally, I start to get kinda freaked out, thinking that something has gone really wrong under my car.

So after a few times, my wife starts looking around in the car. She opens the glovebox, and there's a can of AXE body spray in there, that everytime I dip the clutch to shift to 2nd, rolls and hits the back of the glovebox and goes CLANK!

Please, I encourage all of you to laugh heartily at me. I can't believe how freaked out I was, and how relieved I was when I found out that it wasn't the car. I was laughing all the way home... :D

For about a week, everytime I would turn, I would hear a clunking noise. Thinking is was something to do with the suspension, I jacked the rear up and looked around. Finding nothing, I decided to look at the rear shock mounts. When I opened the trunk, I found my spare steering wheel just sitting there, waiting to slide around from side to side :)

I am sure it happens to all of us at one point or another.

i have a bunch of crap in my car so every time i take a turn hard its like an avalanche. I can hear every thing slide from one side to the other

I'm like you in that regard. I do keep a few things in the glovebox (maps (cause I never ask for directions :P ), registration & proof of insurance, and maybe a couple of CDs for the stereo). Other than that, nothing else.

While driving an E30, the AXE effect ceases to exist, at the very most it neutralizes the "driving an E30 effect".

that is pretty funny. I have done that before with something in my trunk. I usually don't have anything in my car so when something goes in the trunk I usually forget about it and then wonder what the hell that noise is.

I get mine to that state every once in a while. A few weeks ago i took out both seats (one was bent if you guys remember) and vacumed and treated the whole interior. It looked brand new. Now its dirty agian and theres misc papers and half eaten starburst packages everywhere. My phone and wallet also end up on the floor. Next weekend i will take some pics after i clean it up.

My car is usually like that, I just had it in there because I had to go somewhere directly after work on friday, and didn't want to smell like the jobsite. Most of the time, my car is clean as a whistle.

same here.. although I forgot my camera under the passenger seat and it stayed their for more than a month. :oops: having shit rolling around/rattling drives me nuts.

:D I can feel you man! I dont have anything creak or rattle (at least not that i dont know where the noise comes from anyway ;) ) in my car and i hate unidentified noises when i drive! I also stop and throw away little stones cought on my tires every time i hear them! :PPP N.

When i want to clean my car of loose paper and shit, i just put the top down and do about 50.
