EDC Bag (Every Day Carry) What do ya'll use?

I'm in the market for a new every day carry bag for work and the like. I have been using backpacks for years and am growing tired of them and have yet to find one that really suits what i want perfectly. I've been thinking about making the jump to a more military style tactical brief case like these:


from Blackhawk

or


from Maxpedition

I like the fact that they have some sort of ability to be customized with the M.O.L.L.E style pouches and have compartments to organize different items.

There are others out there, but these two have stood out.


What do you guys carry for work?
What do you do for work?
What are your necessary every day items?

I was gonna suggest some of the stuff from Maxpedition. There are a few bags in the gearslinger line I've been thinking about.

Yea, i really liked those, but came across 2 issues...

1. No real pocket for a laptop
2. Bordering on seeming like a purse

My Daily bag is just a Swiss Gear Lap top back pack, when I working (since I travel) it has all my valuables in it so the maid does not steal my shit outta my hotel room.

Stuff in there all the time other than my valuables, is a extra box of 20 Self defense rounds, some pens, some Para cord, a mulit tool, flash light, Batteries, Calculator, Certs for work, note book, field book, Pair of socks, Pair of boxers, some TP, bandaids, Motrin, Flash drives, digi cam, lighter, Magnesium Fire starter block, precise measuring devices for work, (if not directly on me) my Gun and boot knife, A couple of granola bars, sun block, Water bottle, and a couple santi tabs, and some other shit.

When this thing goes to shit I am getting a TAD-Gear FAST pack to replace it.

I've been a huge fan of TAD for a while, but their stuff is incredible expensive. I love their skeleton key

But yeah I spend lots of time WAY off the road some times miles from one with no cell serives and some days we may not see another person while we are getting our shit done on Cross country Pipe line construction. SO I try to keep enough crap on me that I can hike back out if need be.

Maxpeditation makes good shit as does Black Hawk,. Just depends on what you really need or want to carry with you on a daily baisis.

No I wont ever use a Satchel for this purpose, as Not even Indiana Jones can make a purse Manly enough to consider using on a daily basis.

I mostly carry a canvas tote bag containing my lunch, for I work at a chiropractor's office. I don't need a survival knife, compass, garotte wire, and a pistol. I'm an office administrator, not an assassin. We even have potable water, dispensed from a water cooler.

I like my Timbuktu laptop bag for work. Also used it on my trips to china. It's fallen off of a moped at 30 mph and climbed the steps of the great wall as well, holding up very well

The major things I want to carry will be:
1. Laptop
2. Engineer pad/notebook (i'm having custom ones made if anyone is interested)
3. Water Bottle (1L Nalgene...I drink over a gallon a day)
4. Pens/Pencils
5. Tape Measure
6. Calculator
7. Folders/Files
8. Multi-tool
9. Keys/cell/wallet
10. dedicate knife (hate the one on the gerber)
11. Gun (current ccw is too large in summer attire)
12. Extra mag
13. Flash Light (mini-mag)
14. Advil/Adderall (hence needing organization)
15. Paracord (hadn't thought about that, but sounds handy, i'm stealin it)
16. Calipers/Digital Level/various other instruments
