100LL will destroy your o2 sensor and kill your cat. The 100 is the octane and as said above, not really the same scale as we get at the automotive pump. Shell 94 would be better for most of us. The LL stands for Low Lead. However there is nothing low about it's lead content. After it kills your o2 sensor and cat it will lead foul your plugs and may leave lead deposits on your valve seats.

I have run it in my 2002 years ago but the hassle of the fouled plugs and different air idle mixture required made it a pain in the ass. It also ate and loosened the plastic gunk sealer in my gas tank. I pulled most of it out through the sending unit as it came out like big pieces of fruit roll up.

100LL is for airplanes and maybe the occasional Coravair.

Instead throw some nitromethane in your tank. ( I am not going to be held responsible for you doing this though.)

If you get caught buying 100LL (or other aviation grade fuel) and using it in your car, there are hefty fines to pay. IIRC it is ok for offroad use in ATV's and bikes, but I could be mistaken there. Just something else to think about, though not sure how someone would actually get caught unless they were actually dumb enough to pump it straight into their car at the airport.

                        trans not required!

Actually JP-5/8 is used regularly in military diesel trucks with no problem, presumably Jet A could be used too. Only real difference is that our fuels have anti-ice, anti-fungus additives. Probably wouldn't want to try Jet-B though unless I were in Iceland or something....

My experience with these regulations was in OR, but they may not be far behind CA in terms of environmental nanny policies. Like I said, I still think it would probably be hard to get caught, short of some massive lack of common sense.

At the local airport the night before drag races all the hillbillys would load their cars up with av-gas and go to the track. Granted they were all pretty much Chevy 350 so it really didn't matter if you blew it up or not. I know some of them would run the extra on the street on non-race nights though.
