What is a 1985 Euro 325e with 12,000 miles worth?

I just (somewhat inadvertently) bought a 1985 Euro 325e sedan over in Japan that I'm bringing to Canada. They badged and sold the eta as a 325i over there and I was not paying close enough attention to the year. Car has a white exterior, blue cloth interior, automatic and A/C. Chrome euro bumpers and BBS rims. 19,500 kms/12,000 miles. As close to a new 325e as is possible these days. Car is over 25 years old and therefore eligible for import into the US without federalization.

Any thoughts on fair market value?

I could see that fetching 7.5k. Expect closer to 4.5-6k.

Not worth as much on r3v but to an enthusiast looking for a stock car, a lot more.

12k miles on a 25-year-old car would make me weary. Did it sit for a long time or what?

My brother and I have imported a lot of German cars from Japan. Over there German cars (particularly left drive cars) are status symbols rather than a means of transportation. Lots of low mileage cars over there - amazing condition since they reflect status. However, as you say, most need new rubber bits when they get here.

they only have to be 15 years or older not 25 to import.

15 Years is the Canadian Exemption for import, the Yanks have to wait for 25 years for that. I think that is what he was refering to.

How much did you pay? ;-)
That's what the car is worth, and most likely less as it is an "eta" and not an "i"...
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

That would certainly make it like very other car I've gotten 'a good deal' on!

There was a similar extremely low milage eta (I think it was an '86) that sold at auction a while back in Vegas, for something like $20K. The link to that sale was in this GD forum several months back.
Granted, I would never pay that, nor would arguably anyone on here, but enthusiasts tend to be an 'emotional' lot...

If you're not in dire need of the money right now... I think you should actually keep it. Who knows what someone will pay in another 5-10 years. That thing is immaculate, who cares if it's an 'e' it's still an e30 and it will only get more classic as the years go by. It could prove to be a pretty good investment.
