Nice find. The E36 M3 is a nice car, but the cheap ones take allot of money to get them where they need to be.

Looks like a parts car candidate to me, but with allot of time, work, and money it could be nice again. Good luck with the project.

Full cooling system replacement is a must. Also, the oil pump nut on the oil pump sprocket can back off unexpectedly, resulting in an instant and total loss of oil pressure, although it's a rare occurance.

Absolutely. It'll have a fresh coat of paint, less rust, and mudflaps this time, too.

Well I got under it today, and this is what I found:

The transmission mount is cracked in half, looks like the PO didn't tighten the bolts on the tranny mount, and I'm guessing the play allowed it move enough to crack the mount.

Also, the cheap SSK has electrical tape wrapped all around it The spring looks terrible, and the bolt in front (IDK what its called..) is not tight at all. Looks like they couldn't find the right size and just threw one in.

Also, bleeding the slave cylinder didn't really solve anything, it still feels shitty, but I suspect these issues I just mentioned play a factor.
We did fix the gas pedal though, so its a lot easier to drive now :)

**Edit: I also found out it has H&R OE Sport springs, dropping it 0.75" front and 0.3" rear :D

Thanks, I'll be keeping it for sure now, its too much fun even in this condition :)
Thing is, I have a feeling the shifter issues are directly related to the slave cylinder and SSK. If thats the case and all it needs is the be bled or replaced, I'm looking at under $200 worth of repairs.
Also, my uncle does bodywork on high end cars for a living, these dents should be a walk in the park, and this winter he may able to teach me the basics of painting a car :p

Its not like you have to get up at 5am to get there on time.
Haha NO! You tried getting me to do that with my last 2 e30s :)
You gonna be there next time? If so I may stop by and watch..
