I saw BP has a contract with some car manufacture, for 12 hyrdogen stations on the east coast for test facilities.

From what I'm learning in Water Rights is sounds like we will run out of water in most of the US before, gas.

well.......i looked and not only could i not find figures on energy relase from octane combustion but i couldn't find any e.q.'s involving octane and cals/moles so your on your own on that 1. if you really want the info talk to a prof about it or a higher level chem student with acess to a calrimitier (sp). or if you can find 2 e.q.'s involving octane & calories per mole post them up and ill do the math. wut ever u decide good luck with that papper.

It doesn't neccisarrily take gas. It takes electrcity to create hydrogen, which inturn comes from a power plant, which could be run off of coal or hydroelectric power.

I do know for a fact that Cheveron has built and put into operation 5 differnt hydrogen fueling stations. They teamed up with Hyundai I beleve and they are doing a test with Hyundai's cars to show the gains of hydrogen fueled cars.

As far as information you want, do you want to know how it works, or more things about the technology? www.howstuffworks.com will explain how both work if that is what you need. They should have some links also to other places of interest.
And BMW has teamed with BP.

ANND - here's my two cents on everything.

This hybrid stuff - stupid. A quick way for these car companies to make a quick buck on all the pollution hating, energy saving hippies. Not always a bad thing, but hippies are gay.

This leads me to another thing - Hydrogen IS the future. Whether you want to admit it or not - that is the MAJOR source of future energy we will need to depend on it.

Look at it in terms of which fuels are renewable.

Gas - Nope - relies on fossil fuels.
Hydrogen - uhh, we breath in one molecule of this 90-120 times a SECOND. YES - it takes energy to get Hydrogen in the liquid form, and then you have to keep it cold - BUT - it's renewable, right?
Hydroelectricity - How is this bad? The environment? Pah - the environment is ruined by everything these days. We could go drill in Alaska, there's nothing there to ruin but some barrin land - it takes like 1/4 square mile to drill for oil. But, Hydroelectricity is RENEWABLE. As long as we have water, we will get power.

Basically, here's what I'm saying. Coal and gas power plants are still used today, but many power companies are TRYING finding alternatives. They should probably try harder. ;)

We have solar, wind and hydroelectric power.

It takes energy to make hydrogen, but if we use hydrogen, the cycle is endless, and we can always make power from something.

The hybrid, again - is a joke. It still uses gas, just gets better gas mileage. Our future lies in something that doesn't use any gas at all, and that's Hydrogen.

And, guess who's leading the way...that's right, BMW BIIIOTCCHESS!! :D

Hydrogen cars don't actually have an engine that runs off of hydrogen. They use a electric fuel cell that powers an electric motor. And no, right now, they are no where near the same performance.

But imagine if they did make motors more power. Acceleration would be faster then ANY gasoline powered engine as electric motors, assuming they have enough power, will spool up almost instantly compared to a gas motor.

I like the green and the trees and the idea of a clean world... but nothing is going to hav as much ummph as some good ole 93octane for your car. Maybe some day, but im sure i won't like it as much as good ole fossil fuel. have fun while it is still there to burn. You can make your car burn cleaner, nice hot spark when you get new plugs get a exhaust thats clean... but as much as i am a tree hugger im still a gear head.
S&L is the Anti-Rice.... yea, thats a good thing.

Please do. Email it to me. If you could also give me the info for a bibligraphy (print date, author etc) that would be great.
