The E30 self proclaimed god is closer to me? Awesome, it would be nice to have a check up on my shitbox.

I plan to put my fan clutch/fan back on for the trip. It would be stupid not to since 75% of my trip is through desert.

We shall see how it holds up under steady hot weather.

That would be a long-ass drive.

Welcome to TX! I have family in Austin, so when I come down I'll have to see that shop (looks and sounds sweet). Congrats on the kick ass job.

'Fraid there's no quick way around LA at all...you'd have to go waaaaayyy around on small highways and hook up with the 40 or something. If you're really worried about it, plan it so you come through Southern California in the dead of night. Or, you could start off way early in the morning when you leave, drive straight through into LA, get some sleep, and attack the freeways here first thing in the morning when you're fresh. That'd be pretty hardcore though - long-ass drive from Corvallis to here.

Otherwise traffic will be anywhere from OK to violent-crime-inducing - anyone's guess.

as everyone says, congrats on the job.

And yeah, stay off the 10. It's ugly, bumpy, and perpetually under construction.

Nice going Jordan, best of luck in Texas. Even if there is LA traffic, it would be faster to hit the 10 instead of going all the way down to the 8, you get to the same city with either one, and getting around LA to go to San Diego will take forever anyways. However, if you do go down to SD in mid-Mayish, I would possibly be able to check out your car, and that would be sweet.

No AAA here. I would really like to borrow someones V1 for the trip, but I don't know anyone that has one that would be willing to do that for me.

I need to figure out my exact path so i can find where i will stop to rest.
I have AAA and can try and get you the TripTik things e30sd suggested. My parents swear by them whenever they go on long drives, although I've never used them.

Thanks but Dallas is pretty far north of where I will be going.

In the next couple days I will be making an *official* route, which you guys local to parts can suggest better ways, ways around traffic, around nasty 17" wheel swallowing bumps etc. This would be super appreciated.

I know from previous experience that Glendale to Corvallis is ~11hrs if you are making good time.

I think I will start my trip in the morning, get into LA ish around 8pm.
