spend some time on garage journal, and you'll be date coding your snap-on collection in no time.

I love my mac wrenches. Knuckle savers are even nicer. I typically only buy older mac stuff that is stamped sabina.

Garage journal tip of the day. Buy some gearwrench brand socket wrenches, and swap out the internals for Matco 88 tooth gears. 1/2 price fine tooth ratchets.

I say Husky, not overpriced, lifetime warranty like cman. I got a tool kit from Lowes for 150, has everything you can ever need as far as sockets and wrenches.

You guys do realize Snap-On are made in China right? The best tools I've used are Stahlwille, they make the OEM BMW tools and will last a lifetime

Same Parent Corp Danaher, Also owns C-man, Allen, KD, Armstrong, Fluke, and a few others in addition to Matco and Gear wrench.

Also since gear wrench has the tech and the patents all ratcheting end wrenches no matter the branding (yes IIRC even Snap are made by gear wrench) are made in the same gear wrench in factory Taiwan

No mention of second hand, ie your local Pawn shops...Pick up a variety of decent tools used and sometimes new.

Check it out, or shops that sell used tools, I have a place semi near me that sells sockets for 0.25-$1.00 in bins according to size.

anyone ragging on craftsman or napa's professional line tools is a retard. their tools are well built and I've never had either brand snap, bend, or break on me. if youre shit is breaking, using either brand, then 9 times out of 10 you are using the wrong fucking tool.

professional line= *forged* &/or *lifetime warranty*

im speaking ONLY for hand tools though. power tools are a completely different ballpark.

I'm currently in auto tech school, and i brought my craftsman tools with me (they're probably 5 or 6 years old so i can't quite comment on the new stuff). i've always been satisfied with the craftsman stuff, and have never had a problem replacing them.

however, my class works in groups, and 2 of the other guys in my group used a student discount/tool voucher to buy a full snap on tool set, so i've used both.
honestly, i think the snap on tools are much much better, but it comes with a price.
So the way i looked at it was you if your going to do this as a hobby look into craftsman (remember, i haven't bought new craftsman in several years), but if your going into this as a profession, buy a professional grade tool; snap-on, mac, matco, ect...

I plan on buying a snap-on set using my tool voucher, and student loan next semister.

I wrench by day and night 80% of my tools are matco 10% snap on 10% cornwell.

If your looking for tools to last. think of what is most important, Buy a quality brand ratchet (Matco,Snap-on,Mac,Cornwell)etc... and then buy cheaper sockets. Craftsman,Husky is a good weekend mechanic brand.

As far as impacts go do go cheap they dont last. if you have the coin get name brand. IR makes great air tools at reasonable price.
