the spring in the steering wheel on the horn button?

learning to work on my own car has been the most rewarding part of owning e30s. i know that the job is being done properly with quality parts and i get to see whats going on in my car.

...i also couldnt afford them if i had to pay a shop.

Airbag car? He prob meant the clockspring. They can be really pricey, can't recall if the E30 even uses one for the horn, if so, get a used one from the yard.

As I was reading, I was about to mock everyone, call them retards, then tell them to look up the labor for the clock spring. It includes an alignment.

yea I have zero patience for that, I shockingly painted my "is lip" on my own though, if I had the balls i'd rip out my cracked dash and put the new one in, but as of now it's sitting in the garage...

is it pricey? does 350 sound right? kind of dangerous to drive with no horn

yeah, it sounds like id start working on the smaller stuff if i was you. The dash swap may give you a big headache lol.

It's not the "no-horn" situation I'd worry about, it's the fact that the clock spring also provides connection for the Air Bag.

I shorted the horn in my truck on my 18th birthday. It's been that way ever since. I only miss my horn when there are asian people driving around me.

Dash isn't too hard..I've found that I've learn best if I just dive in and do it. If I fubar something, I come to this forum crying like a kid that fell off the jungle gym and r3v saves my ass. Errytime.

Hmmmm I have had two 1988 325 ixs so far and I was able to buy both control arms from BMA parts for @ $520 and also both bushings for about $40 and it took a friend an me about 1.5 hours to replace them on a lift The most dificult time comsuming part was replacing the rear bushings since we did not have a really good press .....
