    Parting out estimate?

How much do you think parting out an e30 would make? My e30 has a bent something up in the front which would could be a lot more trouble than is worth to fix up. Because the lower mounting point of the grills and kidneys is bent, I can't make my BMW look like a BMW.

So, I figure why not part it out, recoup some costs and get a better e30.

Everything on the e30... almost everything is fine. It has an issue with the motor on one window, has no glove box, little things.

How much do 5 speed transmission + 325i engine with 140k + and everything else rake in, in the end?

    Thanks for helping the n00b.

anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand

it totally depends on the model, the mods, the shape of the parts, the condition of the car, etc.

what's bent up front? a core support is not a big deal - that's where the top of the kidneys mount - about $200 for the part (new, used is far cheaper), cost of installation can vary widely depending on how/who does the work.

the bottom of the kidneys mount to the front valance, which is a bolt-on affair. Definitely not worth parting over - you can get one for $50 from a junk yard.

But, I wouldn't part a car out over a bent core support. bent frame? it depends what the damage was, and how badly it was bent. Parting out a car is a pain in the ass though.

is this all you're talking about? Just replace the valance with a straight one... hopefully that's the extent of the damage though. In my opinion, your best bet would be to keep this car intact and drivable than to part it out.

I didn't want to take it to a body shop. Maybe I should, get an estimate, do the e30 a little justice.

It's just I don't know the history of this car and I fear that the damage is a lot deeper than it looks. I guess I could go to hammertown on it and if I mess up.. buy a new.... valence(? correct me I am wrong...) What's the best way to fix it then?

Oh.. and the hood doesn't match up with the body right. Minor thing, but definitely noticeable. It looks like it's been pushed in hard on one side by some sort of collision.

            required tools for fixing:
1 fat friend, to pull on the rope
            1 rope
            2 screwdrivers
            1 hammer
            2 pairs of pliers
couple small pieces of wood to shape and pound on.
            3 hours of work tops.

i repaired my 86 ES this way. was a cake job and easier than parting a car out.
            Much wow

I definitely wouldn't part out over that.
