    What to think of this

I've been chasing a passenger side wet carpet issue since it started raining here in the NW. First time I pulled up the carpet I found a loose floor plug and sealed entire area with sealer. Next rain storm it got wet again and I pulled up the carpet and sealed the other two plugs. Just this last week the carpet gets wet for a third time and I'm thinking WTF!? So I pull the carpet completely out of the passenger side and start looking for a hole or crack. I notice this rubbery stuff along the floorboard from the firewall to the passenger door. I peeled it up with a knife to reveal this (see picture 1). Upon closer inspection, I see what appears to be spot welds and a some form of a repair. Dont mind the scratches, thats the knife scraping off the rubber (see picture 2). So now I'm all worried that the PO wrapped this car around a tree and somehow had it put back together so I take the fender off to have a look. (see picture 3). I measured the whole car and upon inspection, its square and straight as can be, no frame or body wrinkle anywhere. I traced the leak/tear to be at the very bottom of the car right at the bottom where the fender meets the rocker. it must be a hairline crack but sure is allowing water in. I poked at the rust inside the car and it isn't soft or eaten through, just heavy surface...some sanding and rust mort or por15 should clear it up.

Either way, what do you suppose that welding is from/for?

check the sunroof drain behind right speaker. You may have to pull fender back to drill small drain hole

From the looks of that I dont think you car has been wrecked. It does however look like the PO did have the rust repaired or ghetto rigged for that matter. I would say cut out and re weld correctly and follow up with some good anti rust paint.

it could be your elephant drain thats clogged. its located on the passenger side of the firewall just behind the valve cover. try taking it off and making sure theirs no dirt/leaves/twigs in it.

you own a macco branch and you are coming here with a few pics to ask if that car was wrecked????????

the floor panel looks to be destroyed pretty well, somethin ugly happened there. I would guess it is already a "soft" car all the metal is just about rusted through at the jack points. and someone lifted the car with a big azz jack in the mittle of the floor board and it ripped the metal all apart along the sill.

Wow since you must put it that way...yes I do own a maaco. And just because i own a body shop doesnt necessarily make me a body-man or a painter or detailer now does it? It's a business and i run it like one. The fact that I ask a simple question is just that, a simple question that didnt require your ignorant response. I didn't get I-car gold status by having my head in my ass. If my techs were in the shop on a Sunday night i may have asked them. But as luck would have it, they werent so I brought it here.

            Have a great day

EAD it was just a serious real world question. would you really want someone working on your car if they didn't know anything about cars.

how the hell can you run a bussiness and not even know the most obvious crap about it what the hell is this world coming to??????
