    Clean Valves

    I open this up to do a valve adjustment.
    car should have around 200k on it, 89 325i
    doesnt this look extremly clean for that many miles?
    or is this normal?
    are the numbers on the rockers an oem thing?

          I thought it needed a valve adjustment because it sounds a bit clacky.
          adjusted them but it did nothing for the noise.

            Th clack is normal. As long as they're adjusted right, and the light clack is consistent - enjoy your perfectly running car :)

              That is clean...I havent' even seen a pic of an e30 valve train dirtier than mine yet. There's a thin black layer caked on almost everywhere. But the car has never been driven hard it's whole life so that's probably why. Real estate agent owned it for 22 years and stored it in the winter.

                The e30 owners manual recommends the Italian tuneup after extended stop and go traffic.

                  hahah..I read that in my owners manual on a ferry trip last week. Says to drive with rpms around 3000rpms for a couple minutes after city driving. Who needs see foam. haha

                    Yeah probably rebuilt. The numbers (headbolt tightening sequence?) are not supposed to be there and it looks way too clean for 200K miles.
