I spent something like $500+ on tools last spring (never added it all up, but I was buying tools almost every day). I have just about everything now, although my spring compressor is a peice of crap. Anyone have a reccomondation on a decent spring compressor? Mine has a tendency to bind up and gouge the hell out of the springs, plus it can't fully compress the spring because of the way it attatches.

I also need a better torque wrench. Mine works fine for things like lug nuts, but my front hubs for example are torqued to 220ft-lbs, and my wrench only does 150.. I had to use a breaker bar with a big pipe to get it close enough after I maxed out my torque wrench.

for the spring compressor, your best bet is to get one from a company called "otc" or "snap on/blue point"
they make a lot of specality automotive tools

and for torque wrench's are you using a 1/2 drive wrench??? or is it 3/8 becuase the torque that either can put on is different.

it's 1/2". I only paid $25 for it though, and it's marked in 1ft/lb and metric increments. :)

what sucks is I paid more for my POS spring compressor than the snap-on one.. :(

haha the tool thread, i thought this was about eurospeed or that kid from hawaii :P

ahahahaha, I almost fell out of my chair, the other engineers are like get to work punk! hahaha.

anyway, i have a decent sized tool set, its 150 peice from husky, plus a ton of others from just diffrent sets ive had. but i have access to a full snapon set, and i mean fullllll, my uncle is a mechanic :)

Harbor freights or the Northern Hydraulic, both have decent jacks for the money.

Paul, maybe you have some recommendations for jackstands and wheel chocks....
