Here's how the cam mark sat when I got my car (I changed the TB within a couple hundred miles of getting it) while the crank was at TDC.

The car ran without issues like nando described. I fixed it so they were dead on, but I don't notice much of a difference now. How's that happen?

I cant answer that. Id be afraid if that was how mine lined up. Ill tell you though, you can definately tell the difference, in looking, at the marks lined up perfect and off a tooth.

I am curious how yours was running fine being one tooth off.

      All Buttoned Up Now.......BUT.....

Buttoned up with only minor operator errors:

      1. Crunched the oil sender coupler. Plastic POS. tried to orient and push the pins in (3 flat silver tabs from the sender, into the crunched connector off the harness. No go. Oil light on now.
      2. Crunched the coolant connector to the radiator sensor for the aux fan??? Is this correct. Plugs into the passenger side of the radiator. I need to know which wire can plug into which pin on the sensor. Any recommendation?

      Old plastic is a PITA.

      3. Didnt tighten a hose and thought the WP was leaking again, but no... just a loose WP to thermostat housing hose, at the thermo housing. Tightened up. No leaks!! Lost a bit of coolant though. Oh well. I had an extra gallon of Bimmer water.

Temp gauge riding less that halfway. No coolant light. Probably need to bleed again but I think it's ok.

Had a massive vacuum leak, forgot to reattach the bracket bolts on the VC to Intake triangle. The triangle bolts were loose as well. No vacuum leak now. No CEL. Gone.

The PROBLEM. The car idles at 750, pulls like a bitch. No valve noise that seems abnormal. All good. Well, not really..

There now is a mechanical noise I cant hardly describe. Sounds like its "bound up" somehow. Not really smooth as it was before the job. Is it possible to overtighten the alt, PS, AC belt(s)? If so, what would it sound like?

I don't think it is the timing belt. Idle is too dead solid on it, and the car pulls great. Wish I had a cam I'd post up a vid/audio. If it is a tight belt, or belts, will it sort of self correct? Once it's driven awhile? Can it do any damage??

Almost there. If I can just resolve this weird noise!!

new belts can be quite noisy for about a week or so - sounds a bit like a supercharger. is that what you're hearing?

Yeah, sort of I guess. I was Seafoaming the engine when I parked it. It sat for 3 weeks with 1/3-1/2 can of product in the crank. Ran fine until the WP bearing started making noise, and I parked it.

The car pulls hard and strong. No knocks, idles great - spot on. Except for the new Christmas lights I have lit due to my hamhandedness, everything except this noise is on the money.

I'm going to drive the piss of it today, change the oil and see what I got.

Thanks Nando for following my thread and all your advice. Yoose a good man!
