I recently bought a Lincoln 140C 110v welder and am very happy with it. The welder before this was a flux core Lincoln wire feed and it laster well over 15 years and still works great. You are going to have a hard tie finding anything for around $500 though. With a bottle of gas and no cart, my mine was over $600, and that was on sale.

Are you wanting to learn to weld and purchase a quality welder, or are you looking to make your pipe for less than $300 as you stated in the original post? i know 300 bucks its a good price.. assuming its gonna be made by a professional and alot of work involved.. i dont mind paying that money for it.. but at the same time i would love learn how to weld, i always liked welding! and i think it might be a good idea to borrow my ex boss welder and at least try to do the exhaust my self.. but still i have no idea on how to do the bends!.. idk..
